LETTERFORMS IN ROOMS
Thesis study
The next logical step involved further integration of text and environment. Three-dimensional letterforms were constructed in a similar way to the previous study. Additionally, the letterforms were positioned in a composition that evoked architectural space. The strangeness of the letterforms in the rooms was fascinating. The spaces had been previously empty and these letterforms became characters on a stage, in a scene with mysterious origins or background story. The viewer’s location was confused by the perspectival planes that created the room. Although this was a step in the right direction, it was only the beginning of integrating text and stage.
